Barbara J Thomas - Obituary

Barbara Jean Thomas, affectionately known as “Bobbi”, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 3, 2024, and the comfort of her home of 30 years. Born on April 11, 1938 and Columbus, Ohio to the late Lester Thomas and Vivian Jackson, Barbara was one of fourteen children. She truly had a servant’s heart, often serving in the church as mother of the church, a choir member, on the usher’s board, and wherever she was called by the Lord as needed. Barbara was a runway fashion model for Nikki Brock, as well as being a locally and internationally known artist. Barbara was also featured in an international magazine for her original limited edition teddy bears. Barbara loved to dance and skate in her younger days. Barbara loved to cook, garden, sew, spend time with her family and enjoyed people watching daily while sitting on her front porch. Barbara is the mother of eight loving children: James R. Broadnax (proceeded in death) Gwandine (Jeffrey) Thurmond, Charles O.A. Thomas, Kevin J. Thomas, Kelvin T. Thomas (proceeded in death) Vivian L. Pitman, Luwana G. (Ronald) Byrd, and Barbara J. (Christopher) Howard. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, as well as seven great grandchildren with whom she enjoyed frequent visits along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts (Mabel and Mary) and two surviving sisters, Alice Lester And Gwandine (Dee Dee) Thomas. Barbara proceeds in death two grandchildren Latoya A. Ingram and Michael C.K. Howard. She was a kind, generous, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all she encountered. To know her is to know the definition of unconditional love. She will forever be loved and missed.
