Broderick Price

Nov 12, 1945 — Jan 22, 2026
Brooklyn, NY

In Loving Memory

Broderick Price was an American artist, painter, and sculptor whose life and work reflected a deep commitment to artistic practice across cultures and continents. Born in Miami Beach, Florida in 1945 to Martine Price and George Jefferson Price II, he went on to build a life shaped by art, study, travel, and sustained creative inquiry.

Broderick pursued formal art training internationally, studying at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and later graduating with a BFA from the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin. These formative years in Italy and Germany grounded his work in both classical discipline and contemporary experimentation, influences that remained visible throughout his life.

Working primarily in painting, Broderick exhibited his work widely, with shows in Berlin, Miami, New York City, and throughout New England. His practice was international in scope yet deeply personal, marked by a seriousness of intent and a lifelong dedication to creating works of art. In addition to maintaining his home and life in Brooklyn, New York, he also established a second home with loving friends and family in the Dominican Republic, where he continued to work and reflect later in life.

In 2019, Broderick published his memoirs, offering a written account of his experiences, observations, and reflections on art and life. Writing, like visual art, was another means through which he shared with the world, and his work lives on. Beyond his visual art, Broderick was passionate about building and flying small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), and he was proud to be certified by FEMA for incident search and rescue.

Broderick is survived by his loving partner, Nancy Koprak, her daughters, Julia and Sarah, and Julia’s children, Abilene and Lucy; his two cherished daughters, Phoebe Flynn and Sharon Sweeney, and their children, Jay Flynn, Thomas Flynn, Joe Sweeney, and Chris Sweeney; his brothers, G. Jefferson Price III and William A. Price; Will’s children, Katy and Jack Price; Jeff’s children, Arthur, Mary, and Sebastian, and their children; and his Dominican family, who loved him as one of their own: Romana, José, Chelo, Altagracias, Romarfil, Ángel, Yobanni, and María Cristina.

He is further survived by many other friends and family who honor his memory and the body of work he leaves behind. Those who knew Broderick remember him as an independent free spirit who was deeply committed to his work. He lived life as he practiced art, and his legacy will endure through that art, his words, and the many loved ones he leaves behind.

Friends and family will gather in Brooklyn to celebrate Broderick’s extraordinary life on Sunday, February 1, 2026, and he will be laid to rest in the meadow of Rosendale Plains Cemetery in Tillson, New York on February 2, 2026.

Broderick's presence, love, and spirit will live on through his art and the many lives he touched.
