In Loving Memory
Katie Imperial
(Dawna Kay Inglis)
April 7th 1951 – September 21st 2025
Age 74
Katie Imperial, born Dawna Kay Inglis, passed away peacefully in her home on September 21st 2025, at age 74, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Katie was born in Fallon, Nevada, on April 7th 1951 to Thomas Donald Inglis and Clara Lorraine Scott. She worked for many years as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), dedicating herself to caring for others with strength and grace. She later retired as a janitor from the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR).
Katie found joy in life’s simple pleasures — tending her backyard garden, crocheting beautiful handmade gifts, and collecting her favorite character, Betty Boop. Her home was always open to those in need. She once made a promise to God that she would never let anyone go hungry — and she kept that promise, always keeping snacks on hand and feeding anyone in need.
Some of her happiest moments were spent sitting on her patio watching her great-grandchildren play. She cherished long visits, and sharing her time and stories with those she cared about.
Katie was the mother of four children: Joey, Michael, Roxanne, and Brandon. Her eldest son, Joey, preceded her in death on December 29th 2021, at age 49. She is survived by her children Michael, Roxanne, and Brandon; her sisters Helen and Vonnie; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren with another one on the way.
Katie was cremated at Truckee Meadows Crematory in Sparks, Nevada, in accordance with her wishes.
