Dewey was also a member of the Rotary Club of Zachary and, for a time, served as President. Dewey will be remembered as being well-loved by his family, church, and community. Dewey’s other passions in life included his family, traveling with his wife, and riding motorcycles. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dave and Bill; a sister, Nelda; and daughters Lela Neff and Lisa Menard. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Lynette Cryar, who was his caregiver for seven years, and Mattie Nelson, his ever-faithful caregiver who regularly visited Dewey at the LA War Vets Home. Also, a special thanks is given to the Hospice of Baton Rouge, his nurse Melanie Viccellio, social worker Jean Spears, chaplain Jeff Mitchell, and the caring and skilled staff who attended to him at both the War Veterans Home and the Butterfly Wing at the Baton Rouge General Mid-City. Pallbearers will be grandsons Gregory Neff, Aaron Buzbee, and Sean Buzbee, along with Tommy Harrell, Matthew McLemore, Alan Sandifer, Will Steen Jr., and Greg Stovall. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 10:00 am until funeral services at 12:00 noon at the First Baptist Church of Zachary.
