In Loving Memory

Donald Lee Lauritzen Sr., 78, of Round Lake Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Born on November 8, 1946, in Chicago, he was a lifelong resident of the Round Lake area and a man whose life was marked by dedication, service, and deep devotion to his family.

Donald spent over four decades with International Harvester, a career that reflected his unmatched work ethic and commitment to excellence. His sense of civic duty led him to serve on the town council as a trustee, as well as dedicate 10 years as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic—embodying his willingness to help others in times of need. Later, he joined the Illinois Department of Transportation, beginning as a crewman before joining the truck enforcement team, where he served with diligence and integrity until his retirement.

A man of many passions, Donald was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing and hunting. Equally at home in the kitchen, he was a talented cook whose meals brought people together and filled the room with warmth—much like his presence. Known for his big personality and easygoing charm, Donald could strike up a conversation with anyone and keep it going for hours, leaving lasting impressions on everyone he met.

Above all else, Donald was a devoted family man. He shared over 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Elaine. Together, they raised five children: Susan (Michael) Michko, Bonnie Lauritzen, Connie Lauritzen, Donald (Leslie) Lauritzen II, and Geoffrey (Dara) Lauritzen. His legacy continues through their lives and the joy of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As per his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
