Ethel Taylor
In Loving Memory
Ethel Taylor passed away on February 2, 2026, in Springfield, Georgia, at the age of 88. She was born in Alexander City, Alabama, to Gaines Johnson and Ethel McWright.
Ethel lived a life rooted in caring for others. After high school, she began her career at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, and later worked at the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where she eventually retired. She was deeply dedicated to her work and often spoke fondly of the doctors and nurses she worked alongside.
She had a natural gift for caring for people, and it showed in everything she did. Whether in her profession or with her family, Ethel was someone others could always rely on. She spent most of her life in Mobile, where her love of Mardi Gras was unmatched, and her devotion to family was undeniable.
Her days were often filled with simple joys—morning coffee while watching her favorite westerns, and afternoons spent tending to her plants. She had a way of making people feel cared for; she showed her love not through words, but through steady, thoughtful acts of kindness. To most of her family, especially her grandchildren, she was known as “Mother Dear,” a name often given with deep respect to a beloved matriarch—something she embodied fully in the way she helped raise multiple generations.
She is irreplaceable, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in all who knew her.
She is deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
