Fred VanHaasen, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on August 27, 1942, in Indonesia, Fred experienced a childhood shaped by history. After World War II, he moved with his family to the Netherlands, where he spent his formative years before immigrating to the United States as a teenager. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Enid, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and cherished memories.
Fred worked diligently throughout his career, retiring in 2006 from Williams Square. In 1982, he proudly became a U.S. citizen, a milestone that reflected his deep appreciation for his adopted country.
An avid fisherman and bowler, Fred found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for the outdoors and friendly competition earned him numerous awards in bowling, a testament to his dedication and skill. But above all, he was most proud of his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Enid, and his two sons, Lance and Xavier, who will forever cherish his warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor.
Fred’s journey was one of resilience, adventure, and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
