In Loving Memory

Gennelle VanSickle (January 14,1934 – May 6, 2025)

With heavy hearts, we honor and celebrate the life of Gennelle VanSickle, born in 1934, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Gennelle’s journey began in a different era, and she witnessed a world of change with resilience and grace.

Gennelle graduated Tampa's Hillsborough High School in 1951, setting the foundation for a life guided by curiosity, determination, and a strong sense of community. Her time at Hillsborough High shaped her values and friendships, many of which she cherished throughout her life.

In 1954, Gennelle welcomed her first child, David, followed by her daughter Twila in 1955, and her third child, Kim, in 1959. Her family was a central joy and focus throughout her life. Though David passed away in 2021, Gennelle is lovingly survived by Twila and Kim, who carry forward her spirit and legacy.

Her love extended beyond her children to five cherished grandchildren and one beloved great-grandchild, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Gennelle’s family was a source of strength and happiness, and she delighted in watching her family grow through the generations.

Gennelle’s professional path was marked by dedication and service to others. She began her career working for the City of Tampa and later served as a receptionist for Dr. Moore in Tampa until 1965. Then, answering a higher calling at the age of 44, she embarked on a remarkable second career as a first responder. She first served as an EMT in Englewood, Florida, and later became a Paramedic for Charlotte County, Florida, providing care and comfort to many in times of urgent need.

Known for her quiet strength and enduring kindness, Gennelle was a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a welcoming presence in every gathering. Her warmth and laughter filled every room, and her gentle wisdom was a source of comfort to those around her.

Her legacy is found not only in the milestones she achieved but in the countless acts of love and generosity she shared. Whether working in her yard or preparing fantastic meals, Gennelle’s hands were always busy making life better for others.

We remember her for her unwavering support, gentle humor, and ability to make everyone feel valued. Gennelle taught us the importance of perseverance, the power of kindness, and the beauty of a life well-lived.

As we say goodbye, let us honor her memory by living with the same compassion and grace she exemplified. Rest in peace, Gennelle VanSickle. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
