Guy James "Oluwale" Jones IV, 47, died August 27, 2025, in Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas after a sudden illness.
Guy or Wale, as he was referred to by family and loved ones, was born September 27, 2025, in Stillwater, Oklahoma to Duraese Jean Hall of Buffalo, New York and Guy Lawrence Jones III of Washington, D.C. He later relocated to Houston, Texas as a child and eventually to Washington, D.C to live with his paternal grandparents.
Guy met his wife, Latalya, now known as Shannon, in Missouri City, Texas in 1995. They married December 30, 1995. Guy attended Archbishop John Carroll Catholic High School in Washington, D.C. and graduated in 1996. His daughter, Shawntecia Nealey-Jones, was born September 19, 1996 and his son, DeAndre Nealey, was born December 12, 1997.
Guy attended Prairie View A&M University and majored in education, with plans to become a teacher. He was active in his community and volunteered at the Jewish Community Center and local community organizations. He was a generous man with a big heart and cared deeply about his friends and loved his family. He was predeceased by his father who died in 1987, his paternal grandmother who died in 2008, his maternal grandmother who died in 2013, his paternal grandfather who died in 2014 and his mother who died in 2016.
Guy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shannon Nealey-Jones, his daughter Shawntecia Nealey-Jones, his son DeAndre (Nealey) Jones and a host of friends, family and acquaintances. The family extends its thanks to the wonderful staff of the ICU at Ben Taub--Harris Health and Houston Hospice for caring for Guy in his final days.
Per his wishes, Guy will be cremated. There will be no services. Please keep Guy and his family in your thoughts during this difficult time.
