Jean Anna Gregonis
In Loving Memory
Jean Anna Hubert Gregonis (May 24, 1926 – December 17, 2024) Jean Gregonis passed away peacefully at the age of 98. She was a vibrant soul born in Marshallton, Delaware on May 24, 1926 to parents Walter Hubert and Anna Florence Brown. In high school, Jean enjoyed basketball, softball, playing the saxophone, and creating art. Jean met WWII Army veteran Walter (Walt) Gregonis at a co-ed softball game, and married in 1951. The couple’s four daughters were born in Metuchen, NJ. Walt’s job with General Motors took the family to Fullerton, California, Montgomery, Ohio, and Baltimore, Maryland. Walt and Jean were avid travelers, visiting all fifty US states, as well as to several different countries in five continents—Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. In addition to traveling for leisure, the couple often visited their children and grandchildren, who lived across the country (Maryland, Ohio, Minnesota). Jean was a gifted artist, and loved animals. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, an election poll worker, and regularly donated to several nonprofit organizations and charities. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Walter and sisters, Louise and Peg. She is survived by her daughters, Janie Fenster, Vicki (Robert) Leibfried, Kristine Gregonis (Hans Hahne), and Judy (Glenn) McDonald, her seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Jean was a brilliant light, always on the move, and often ready with a witty joke. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held for Jean in early summer 2025. Details forthcoming.
