Jeffary Audie Hays
In Loving Memory
Jeffary Audie Hays of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 61.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Jeff was a true original—a man of deep compassion, quick wit, vibrant creativity, and unapologetic authenticity. His life motto, "Loving the man I have become, with no apologies and no excuses. Let us all live life together!" was more than just words—it was the guiding spirit of his life. In 1980, Jeff moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he spent many years as the Design Instillation Manager at Sprintz Furniture. With a natural flair for interior design, a deep love of gardening, and an infectious sense of humor, Jeff brought color, charm, and comfort into every space—and every heart—he touched.
Later in life, Jeff moved to Fort Myers and retired in nearby Cape Coral. In retirement, he devoted his time and energy to serving others through his work with Habitat for Humanity, living out his values of community, compassion, and care.
Jeff was preceded in death by his loving parents, Alyce and Bill Hays, and his brother, John Hays. He is survived by a devoted and loving family: His sister Tracy Jones and her husband Keith; their children Brady Jones, Brooklynn Jones, and Cait Church, all of Bowling Green, Kentucky. His brother Tyler Hays and wife Stacey; their daughters Alyce Hays and Jessica Hays, also of Bowling Green. His sister Jackie Hays and her son, Jackson Curth. His sister Jennifer Hays and her wife, Shannon Train. His stepmother, Cheryl Price. Jeff is also survived by his beloved partner, Dr. Russ Crawford, whose unwavering love, care, and advocacy were a source of strength and comfort during Jeff’s final journey.
Jeff’s legacy is one of authenticity, generosity, and joy. He lived life with humor, elegance, and purpose—and encouraged others to do the same. Fiercely proud of the man he became, he made space for others to feel seen, valued, and loved. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff’s memory to a local LGBTQ+ support organization.
