John William Phillips
In Loving Memory
John Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in San Tan Valley, Arizona. Born on November 26, 1940, in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, in a log cabin, John lived a full and vibrant life marked by business success, cherished family bonds, and a passion for unique hobbies.
John was the son of Beatrice and Irey Phillips, and brother of Tom and Cecil who predeceased him. From an early age, he demonstrated a drive for hard work and determination that would define his life. Over the years, John built a legacy as a lifelong entrepreneur. He owned and operated several businesses that reflected his diverse interests and talents, including a bowling alley, a restaurant, and a stained glass company. His ventures not only showcased his creativity but also left an enduring impact on the communities he served.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, John found joy in a variety of hobbies that enriched his life. He was a talented bowler who spent countless hours perfecting his game. While he may have been less skilled at golf and boating, he embraced these activities with enthusiasm and humor surrounded by lifelong friends. A dedicated antique car enthusiast, John took great pride in collecting and cleaning classic vehicles. His love for antique cars was matched only by his support for all things equestrian—a passion that brought him immense pride in his family over the years.
John's greatest pride and joy were his friends and family. He is survived by the love of his life, Arlene; his son John (Mary); his daughter Karlene (Jeremy); his sisters Norma (Fred) and Armeda (John); his grandchildren JW (Blaire) and Shelby (Troy) and four great grandsons-Dash, Dutton, Brock and Dakota. The love he shared with them will remain a lasting testament to the man he was—devoted, caring, and deeply connected to those closest to him.
Though he is no longer with us, John's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His enthusiastic spirit, zest for life, and unwavering dedication to family and friends leave behind an inspiring legacy.
May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
