In Loving Memory
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julia Irene Murray (65) of Southbury, CT on January 19, 2026. Born September 24th 1960 to John A. Murray and Mary I. Murray. She survived by her brother, William Murray (Vanessa), her daughters Katharine (Keith) and Caroline Berberian and her fiercely loyal friends Celia Garrett and Rob Groezinger. And last but not least, her dog Nellie. Julia grew up spending the summers on Cape Cod with her family, later venturing to Martha’s Vineyard where she would spend many of her summers and time later on in life. She loved to spend time on the beach, collecting seaglass and just enjoying the sun and views. Julia was incredibly talented in more ways than one. With the patience of a saint, she worked in preschools for years, nurturing and devoting her love and time to children. She loved art, graduating with an art major from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She explored her many talents in painting, drawing, and later on in life making stained glass. She will be remembered fondly for her loyalty, love, passion, character, spunk and missed beyond words by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Visitation will be held March 13th 2026 at Edwin L Bennett Funeral home in Scarsdale, New York from 4 to 8pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Pius X church in Scarsdale, New York at 10 am on March 14th 2026 with a burial at the Gates of Heaven cemetery in Hawthorne, New York immediately following. We ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s association be made in her name.
