In Loving Memory of Maryann Gregory
Maryann Gregory, 84, of Hilmar, CA, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, after a life
richly lived in service and kindness. Born on April 3, 1940, in Newark, CA, Maryann was the
cherished daughter of the late John Montero and Mary Faria both of Portuguese decent.
Maryann graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, CA, in 1958.
Maryann is deeply mourned by her best friend and devoted husband of 36 years, James
Gregory, and her loving children: Lynette, Christy, Shannon, James, Linda Jorjee, Michelle,
Yvette, Steven and bonus daughter Lisa. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 21
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, her brother John Montero, sister-in-law Janie Montero,
her son in-laws Guy, Clint, John, Bo, and Chad. Lastly her beloved Cat, Shyanne.
Maryann was preceded in death by her sons, Donny and Johnny Douglass, who now welcome
her into eternal rest.
Maryann’s career was in banking but her full-time job was to love her husband and family,
which she excelled beyond measure. Her life was a testament to compassion, and resilience.
Her gentle nature, warm heart, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones made her the
cornerstone of her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
A celebration of Maryann’s life is planned for this spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests a donation to your local animal rescue shelter or an act of kindness, a phone call to a
loved one, a shared meal, or a quiet moment of gratitude for those you hold dear.
