In Loving Memory

Patrick Donell Smith-Haynes, affectionately known as Pat, age 52, of Baytown, Texas, passed away on July 1, 2025. He was born on November 24, 1972, in Baytown, Texas, to Don and Beulah-Louise Haynes and was raised in La Porte, Texas. Pat attended La Porte High School and later went on to earn his pipefitter certification at Lee College. He dedicated his career to Turner Industries in Baytown, where he was deeply admired by his colleagues and everyone who knew him. Pat’s greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family and friends. Known for his infectious smile and sense of humor, he had a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and at ease. His laughter was a constant presence, and his positive energy left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path. As a beloved neighbor and friend, Pat’s kind heart and warm spirit brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents: Mary Ruth and James Bates, Ella D. Jackson-Mason, and Roselee Smith, along with several other loved ones who will always be remembered with love. Pat is survived by his parents, Don and Beulah-Louise Haynes; his siblings Sheri Smith-Haynes, Tonya Haynes (Cornelius Jones), and Terrell (Shantell) Wiley; his nephews Carl Lee Hank II, Jaylen Levingston, Terryl Jr., and Terrance Wiley; his nieces Kennedy Jones and Myesha Wiley; his stepson Christopher Green (wife Angelina Rodriguez); and his beloved grandchildren.

Pat’s legacy is carried on by those who survive him: his loving parents, devoted siblings, cherished children, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who meant the world to him.

He found happiness in life’s everyday moments, backyard gatherings filled with laughter, Sunday dinners, and the simple joy of sharing stories late into the night. Pat was always the first to offer a helping hand or a word of encouragement, and his generosity knew no bounds. He approached life with a spirit of gratitude and faith, facing challenges with courage and quiet strength. Whether mentoring younger colleagues or supporting a neighbor in need, Pat led by example, embodying compassion in all he did. His love for music, sports, and community events created memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Though he is no longer with us, Pat’s wisdom, humor, and steadfast love remain a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is also survived by a host of uncles, aunts, and extended family from the Haynes and Smith families. Pat was a loving soul who touched the hearts of all who knew him. His devotion to his family, his warmth, and his unwavering kindness will be deeply missed but forever remembered. As we mourn the loss of his physical presence, we take comfort in the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind.

The Haynes and Smith families would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who surrounded Pat with love, laughter, and kindness throughout his life. His spirit will continue to live on in each of us.
