In Loving Memory

Richard Paul Prisock, 65, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025. A proud Navy veteran, devoted husband, and beloved stepfather, Richard brought joy, laughter, and unwavering strength to all who knew him.

Born on May 4, 1959, in Columbus, Mississippi, Richard was the son of Edger Prisock and Francis Smith. From a young age, he demonstrated a strong sense of duty and service, which led him to proudly serve in the United States Navy from 1977 to 1988, achieving the rank of EM2. His time in the Navy instilled in him not only a strong work ethic but also a sense of camaraderie and resilience that stayed with him throughout his life.

Richard married Ba Thi DeVore on October 3, 2020 and quickly embraced the role of husband and stepfather with love and dedication. To Samantha & Tristan Mitchell, Scott DeVore, and Steve DeVore, he was more than a stepfather—he was a steady presence, a source of support, and a cherished part of their lives. He especially treasured his stepgrandchildren—Tabitha, Ava, Eden, Mariah, and Jordan—each of whom brought joy to his later years.

A skilled driver, especially adept at hauling trailers, Richard approached every task with precision and pride. He was known among family and friends for his tireless work ethic, his deep love for music, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering passion for Alabama football. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, and he cheered for the Crimson Tide with pride and enthusiasm—Roll Tide! He also shared a special bond with his dog, Saban, who he loved very much and who was often by his side, especially during game days.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ba Thi DeVore; his stepchildren, Samantha, Scott, and Steve; his treasured grandchildren; his sister Debbie and her husband; his dear Aunt Betty; and his beloved dog, Saban. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edger and Lily Francis.

A memorial burial service will be held on May 23, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, located at 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.

Richard's legacy is one of strength, laughter, and deep-rooted love. Though he entered our lives as a stepfather, he leaves as a true father, friend, and hero—forever remembered and deeply missed.
