In Loving Memory

Richard “Rich” William Piper, 70, of Eugene, Oregon passed away November 17, 2025. Richard was born September 23, 1955 in Spokane, Washington, the son of Richard Piper and Loretta Cordon.

Richard graduated from North Eugene High School, after which he enlisted in the Army and worked as a lineman in Germany. He received the National Defense Service Medal. When he returned to the States, he continued his education at Lane Community College and the University of Oregon. A talented individual, Richard was skilled in computer science and worked as an electrician, among other things, throughout his life.

He was a dedicated father, a loving grandfather, and a cherished uncle. Richard's passion for the Oregon Ducks was infectious, and he loved attending football games with his twin sons.

He was also an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks. Richard found simple joy in spending time with his family and friends, often sitting by the Willamette River at the rock flats with his sons and friends. He also loved attending concerts, and enjoyed hot fudge milkshakes.

Richard touched the lives of all who knew him with his kindness and spirit. He will be missed by many, and his memory will be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Remaining to cherish Richard’s memory are mother Loretta Turner; siblings Susan Willis, Robert Schuenemann, Todd Piper, and Betsy Mason; children Nicholas Piper, Jason Piper, and Serena Piper; granddaughter Crimson Piper; as well as many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Preceding Richard in death are his father, Richard Piper; and siblings Edward Schuenemann and Jill Piper.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date by the family.
