In Loving Memory
Robert "Bob" McNaughton, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, at the age of 75 after a brief illness. Born on May 29, 1949, in Malden, Massachusetts, Bob was the eldest of six siblings.
Bob attended local schools in Stoneham, Massachusetts before enlisting in the United States Navy, where he served with distinction for four years. His naval service took him on a global journey, from the Mediterranean to the Arctic Circle. He later continued his commitment in the Navy Reserves, serving at NAS South Weymouth, Massachusetts, and NAS Brunswick, Maine. His travels to Roosevelt Roads Naval Station were a source of family humor, with tales of "chasing aliens."
Bob married Karen on August 4, 1973. Together, they built a life in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, raising their family. Bob's passion for music was a lifelong joy, and he was known for his enthusiasm for concerts, regardless of genre or venue. He would often be seen driving a car full of his children and their friends to the latest show. He loved spending time with his dogs, always ready for a walk or a game of ball. In later years, Bob and Karen fostered shelter dogs, many of whom found loving homes, while some became permanent members of their family.
Affectionately known as "Papa" by his grandchildren, Bob cherished every moment with them. He delighted in teaching his grandsons to ice skate, exploring unique record shops, and sharing the joy of their first concerts.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Priscilla McNaughton and his nephew; James “Jamie” Gallagher. He is survived by his wife, Karen (McPhee) McNaughton; his children, Heather Bogonis and her husband Dan, and Robert "Robbie" McNaughton and his wife Debbie; and his beloved grandchildren, Justin, Sam, and George Bogonis, and Brennan and Madison McNaughton. His siblings and their spouses, Marilyn & James Graves, Barbara & James Gallagher, Susan & David DiMare, David & Patty McNaughton, and Wendy McNaughton, along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob's legacy of love, music, and family will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
