In Loving Memory
Ryley Shea Buononato April 12, 2000 - December 16, 2024. Written by a close friend: “We can never get enough conversations” Ryley was my you-get-me person. Someone I clicked with the moment we met. If you didn’t know her, I’ll describe her a little better. She is the act of finding the perfect shell to bring home from the beach, or a rock from a hiking adventure- , cotton candy while it’s being spun onto a wand, impulsively touching the press me button on every toy at a store, waking up extra early to drive to a cool sunrise, the feeling when you finally get the word on the tip of your tongue, the one that says hand it over and let me try, wearing the stubbornly stained shirt because it adds character, sitting against the bathroom door just to continue chatting, rattling iced coffee while slowly creaking around a bookstore, winding up a music box, laughter at the worst moment and trying to hold it in, a favorite dress that never gets old, the sound of rustling grass when you lye down on a picnic blanket, she was the feeling of joy meeting old friends at your favorite pub, doing that funny hop when you get a pebble in her shoe, keeping that one glove because the other one will pop up soon, that drive home in the backseat looking out the window chasing the moon, the last sip of a drink slurp, mood rings and rose quartz. She is also the one that will sit and play alongside your messy bedroom instead of ridiculing you for it. She was someone that made the days move at a meditative speed.
