In Loving Memory

Stephen Gentry Thomas, 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his cherished family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and servant leader, Steve’s life was a living testament to integrity, faith, and quiet strength. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Steve answered the call to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service, he dedicated his life to law enforcement and education, proudly serving as a Marion County Sheriff, then as Resource Officer and Chief for Perry Township Schools. His steady leadership and genuine care left an enduring impact on those he protected and guided. Steve’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. A dedicated member of Emmanuel Church, he found joy in fellowship and strength in community. Yet his greatest joy was always his family—with whom he shared laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy Thomas; his daughters, Angie (Thomas) Haven and her husband Brian, and Molly McCollough; and his treasured granddaughters, Kaitlyn Thomas and Averie McCollough. His spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will forever be a blessing. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Emmanuel Church – Banta Campus at 10:00 AM All are welcome to attend and honor this remarkable man.
