Timothy James Troupe

May 02, 1963 — May 15, 2026
Tigard, OR

In Loving Memory

Timothy James Troupe died at his home in Tigard, Oregon having just turned 63.  He was born to Jack L. and Kathleen (Melville) Troupe at the base hospital at Wurtsmith Air Force Base near Oscoda, Michigan.

He traveled the world as a ‘Military Brat’ and graduated from Alpena High School.  He enlisted in the United States Navy as part of the select Tiger Team, recruits who were picked to be sworn in at Detroit’s Tiger Stadium.  Upon returning to civilian life he graduated from Heald College in Oregon.  His Navy ET (Electronics Technician) training led him into a computer related career.

Tim’s interests were as vibrant and varied as his personality.  He collected and painted lead miniatures, crafted armor and weaponry.  His creativity and zest for life extended beyond hobbies. An active member of the American Legion, Tim held offices at both District level and in Portland’s Post 5.  He found purpose in looking out for others within his community.

Known for his kind heart and larger than life presence (he was 6’ 6”) Tim had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life.  He formed bonds that enriched both his life and theirs.  Tim’s generosity knew no bounds - whether offering support to fellow Veterans or sharing holidays with those without nearby family.  To many who knew him, he was a giant teddy bear – someone who could be counted on for warmth, humor, and unwavering kindness.

Tim is survived by his daughter Shayleen, grandchildren David and Olivia, of Oregon; his mother Kathleen Melville-Hall and stepfather Doug Hall of Alpena, brother Sean and nephew Henry of Everett, Washington, and extended family around the country.  He was predeceased by his father Jack Troupe.

Tim’s legacy is one of compassion, camaraderie and an enduring sense of adventure.  His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

May those who loved him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into their lives. A Memorial Service was held on May 26, 2026, at Willamette National Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 150. A Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Bernard Church and he was buried in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan following his return home.

Requiescat in pace
