William Anthony Gallegos

Jan 18, 1943 — May 20, 2021
Redondo Beach, CA

In Loving Memory

William Anthony Gallegos was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Bill and Cecilia in 1943. While he was their only child, he was not raised alone as his father and mother had many siblings and were a respected family in the community. Following his parent's divorce he became orphaned and raised by his paternal grandmother Socorro Martinez who was a local medicine woman and midwife. He recalled her cold feet, bony elbows and the many herbs and plants she kept.
In high school he became a gymnastics star with notable talent in rings.
Eager to take that talent to new heights he joined the Air Force hoping to jump out of planes. While that dream never materialized, another one manifested when he left the Air Force and drove to California to start a new life.
There in a small Chinatown apartment, he discovered and joined a small school of Martial Arts led by master Dan Inosanto.
He went on to work in computers in Los Angeles where we met Priscilla Ford who he married and had three daughters- two being twins. While that marriage dissolved, he found new love in bicycling, photography and video games.
He went on marry again and have another daughter. He retired in Redondo Beach surrounded by his loving daughters and loyal dogs. He is survived by his four daughters, ex-wives, three grandsons and cherished granddaughter. Some knew him as little Anthony, others as Tony- with a charming smile, funny jokes and homemade tortillas and hatch chile sauce.
He died warm in his bed and was cremated. His ashes continue to be spread all over the world.
