In Loving Memory

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Zig-Zag “Ziggy” Zanker, who left us unexpectedly on January 25, 2025, surrounded by his family. Ziggy joined the Zanker family on August 27, 2013, and over the years became a beloved companion, cherished protector, and a true friend to all who knew him.

As a “Royal Poodle” according to the American Kennel Club, Ziggy's majestic appearance was only overshadowed by the enormity of his heart and spirit. He was gentle, kind, and remarkably brave, having conquered cancer twice with an unwavering strength that mirrored the purity of his soul. Despite the many challenges life presented, Ziggy always faced them with a smile, a wagging tail, and a love that radiated from his very being.

Ziggy was a constant source of comfort and joy, always there to lift the spirits of those around him. His loyalty and devotion to his parents, Dr. Theodore Zanker and Mrs. Ellen Sirkin-Zanker, were unmatched. As a devoted little brother to Bruno and Shayna Zanker, he shared countless moments of joy and companionship that will forever be treasured. His gentle presence and thoughtful nature were a gift to all who knew him, from his family to his many suitors, including Jodie Weinstein, Larysa Ivakhnyuk, and Stephanie Zanker-Rivera, who remember him as the gentleman and scholar he truly was.

Ziggy's beauty and grace often turned heads when out for walks, as strangers would stop to admire him. They saw the stunning physical presence he possessed, but those who loved him knew that his true beauty was in his boundless affection and remarkable resilience.

Ziggy’s passing leaves an irreplaceable hole in our hearts. His love, loyalty, and guiding energy will never be forgotten. Life will never be the same without him, but his spirit will live on forever in our memories and the love he so freely gave.

In honor of Ziggy’s life, donations may be made to an animal shelter of your choice. May his memory be a blessing to furry friends everywhere.

Rest in peace, sweet Ziggy. We are so proud of you. You were and always will be, our royal companion.
